Domestic Violence & Homeless Services Coalition
More than half of women experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles have survived domestic or interpersonal violence in their lifetime.
In the fall of 2016, with support from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and the Blue Shield of California Foundation, DWC and Rainbow Services co-launched a cross-sector Domestic Violence and Homeless Services Coalition (DVHSC) to focus on the intersection of domestic violence and homelessness. The coalition’s aim is to create a client-centered system that increases access to safe housing and supportive services for survivors of domestic violence and their families, with an emphasis on integrated, trauma-informed care. Leading partners in the coalition include the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA), Community Legal Aid SoCal, CSH Speak Up!, and the Los Angeles County Domestic Violence Council.
